Baltic Birch Multiply
Even nicer! It is known for it’s even layers and voidless core. Usually, clients like the exposed ply look of Baltic Birch and choose not to edge tape it. More info on Baltic Birch Ply here.
Canadian Birch Plywood -
– The good stuff! We recommend for kitchen cabinets, bookshelves, furniture, and projects like this one! Great for staining.
Chinese Birch Plywood
Also flat & smooth, and has a very thin veneer that sometimes peels when staining, but works well for things like closet shelves
Homasote is not made from a wood product. The board is actually made from recycled newspaper.
We carry it in 4’ x 8’ (48” x 96”) and ½” thick
Melamine is also known as White Composite Board and is made out of compressed chips of wood with a white melamine coating on either side. Sheets come in the dimensions 4’ x 8’ (48” x 96”) and ¾” thick
Masonite is also known as hardboard. Some of the uses include floor protection on construction sites to prevent floor damage, a paint surface for art projects, and as a work table surface. At Midtown Lumber, we use it as the surface for our table saw.
Masonite comes in 4’ x 8’ (48” x 96”) sheets with a ⅛” thickness. For convenience, we also cut masonite into 4’ x 4’ sheets.
Masonitel is paintable but it is not stainable.
Plexiglass is a non-wood product sheet sometimes referred to as Acrylic. Plexiglass is a common replacement for regular glass.
It is not paintable or stainable.
We carry Plexiglass in sheets of 4’ x 8’ (48” x 96”) and thicknesses of ¼” and ⅛”.
Already finished! Prefinished Maple has a semi-gloss UV cured finish.
Medium Density Fiberboard, is compressed sawdust & glue. It’s flat & smooth and is a good option if you are not concerned with strength and plan on painting
